Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Competition
Studio Coordinators: Marv Adelman, Dan Krall

In depth analysis of the existing Washington D.C. memorials, site conditions,
competition program, and the life and era of King Jr. led to a digital
design solution. Form-Z, Photoshop, Powerpoint, and a variety of audio
clips comprised the final presentation.
THE MOUNTAIN:
Represented by a tetrahedron rising up out of the ground. The tetrahedron
provides the greatest strength of all forms with the least amount of
energy. It is a form representative of a nonviolent philosophy.
THE MAN:
A one and a half scale statue stands atop a mountain leading the visitor
along a path of righteousness flowing like a mighty river.
THE MOVEMENT:
The sounds and images of the King era. One half of a looping multi-media
presentation resonating off a black granite wall. The wall supports
the mountain.
THE MESSAGE:
The words of Martin Luther King Jr. inscribed on the wall
